Found Film: Columbia River Oregon Multnomah Wahkeena Falls 1951
This Columbia River home movie has great clips of WahKeena Falls and Multnomah Falls in Oregon. The clip at the end of the film of Dipnetting is only about 5 seconds long, but I was nervous for them!
I want to thank Wayne Stevenson Thomas for sending me this Columbia River Home Movie along with 11 others. He saved them at a charity shop he was part of running and gifted them to me. I can’t thank him enough.
They came from the estate of a Petroleum Geologist in San Antonio Texas. He was a real asset to the city of San Antonio. Stepping in and helping fund the symphony orchestra when the San Antonio Symphony went under for a while. He also worked to get an opera company founded in San Antonio. When he died his collections went to a thrift store and they were unable to find someone who wanted them.
Wayne reached out on youtube and they are now part of Forgotten Now Found. I will post a link to all of the films here as I work to digitize them. Thanks again Wayne for saving them!
How did you digitize this film?
We are losing more history every day. The longer you wait to digitize that home movie of your grandparents at prom or your mom’s first car the more it degrades. I use the Wolverine 8mm and Super 8 Film Reel Converter Scanner to digitize what you see here.
It is easy to set up and operate and stores the files onto an SD card so you can quickly transfer files to your PC. If you have more than 10 films to scan this is definitely going to be cheaper than paying for someone to do it for you, and you’ll have the results quickly about 30 minutes scan time per standard 8mm reel.
